When I do my "Heart of Tuscany" lecture aboard Azamara cruises I put the emphasis on staying in Livorno since it has so many attractions (as you so rightly show in your article ) instead of traipsing off to Lucca, Pisa or Florence. Ill be there next week on a 7 day cruise to Barcelona... Happy Birthday !

Close to La Spezia up in the hills. I've been to the villages where they are from. Such a beautiful area!!! I grew up on Pesto of course ! And i still make it all the time.
