This week’s destination is Lari, where we went to the yearly Cherry festival, the Sagra dei Ciliege. Located in the Val d’Era, an area we have visited often for many reasons. If you love getting off the beaten track, the area between Pisa and Florence, the Val D’Era is for you.

I am including some of my favorite cherry recipes

We have been going to Lari for over 10 years. On our first visit, I saw the poster for the Cherry Festival -”Sagra”. When I find a destination for an event, I research the area and look for other things to see and do, especially if it’s over an hour from home.

Over the years, I have gathered so many places to visit, you don’t need to wait for the festival. Italians love these day trips called gite, scampagnate or zingerate.

It’s part of the deep dive into being Italian! Let me show you where I go.
